Compare these two for instance:Īnd while they won't be putting an extra 6 months of work in wouldn't they still stagger the work schedule and put in at least a little bit more time if they can? Plus, you have to remember that we're not even up to the original release date yet (there are movies where work is done right up till the last week) and there's also the fact a lot of people seem to be forgetting: this trailer wasn't cut together last week. I understand that every case is relative and that there's no 'universal truth' but it seems pretty obvious to me in this case that some shots are more finished than others. Then compare the last link to this shot from the same scene which looks much more realistic, gritty and dirty: Why do these two shots look photorealistic: The orcs look too smooth in some shots, while in other shots they look amazing.īut it's really nowhere near as bad as some make it out to be.Īnd last but not least. I watched it in 1080p and 0.25 on YouTube, and it looked a lot better. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems the motion blur ruins some of it. Isn't it just a matter of polishing? Some of the CGI looks really amazing, while other parts indeed look a bit jarring, almost bordering on uncanny valley. It doesn't look worse than the Avatar trailer, and Avatar's CGI holds up really well. but after some rewatching, I can't help but feel it wasn't that bad. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed at first.
